KNIK ARM BRIDGE
AND TOLL AUTHORITY |
|
The Alaska Legislature established KABATA, the Knik Arm Bridge and Toll Authority in 2003 to:
“...develop, stimulate, and advance the economic welfare of the state and further the development of public transportation systems in the vicinity of the Upper Cook Inlet with construction of a bridge to span Knik Arm and connect the Municipality of Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.” (AS 19.75.011)
A seven-member board led by Chairman Michael L. Foster governs KABATA. The Board includes three private citizens, two regional legislators, and two state commissioners or their designees. At least six board meetings are held each calendar year. The KABATA staff is led by Executive Director Andrew Niemiec; supported by ADOT&PF and a technical consultant team.
